Position description: The Collaboratorium for Social Media and Online Behavioral Studies (COSMOS) Research Center at the University of Arkansas at Little Rock (UALR), US, is hiring graduate research assistants (full-time – 20h/week). COSMOS studies online misinformation campaigns, mostly within the scope of politics, defense, and healthcare. COSMOS has worked closely with the State during the COVID crisis, and the DoD during Euromaidan. As a graduate research assistant, you will contribute to the assessment of online information environments to examine tactics, techniques, and procedures deployed by adversarial information actors conducting disinformation campaigns; helping journalists, policy makers, and other members of the information community to develop countermeasures and/or report accurately on ongoing events. Good knowledge of programming (Python preferred) or expertise in statistics is required, and personal interest or experience in misinformation research, NLP, topic modeling, time series analysis, machine learning, or any other computational analysis techniques will be given preference. We will also consider candidates proficient in developing web applications (Python-Django, Java-Maverick, or JavaScript), or designing user interfaces. Candidates will need to be admitted to UALR and pursue either a MS or PhD (in most cases, for a CS/IS/BiS degree) to be hired.

Please send applications and resumes (with any other relevant documents based on your skill set: previous publications, github repositories, design portfolio, etc.) by email to Dr. Nitin Agarwal.
